Lead Caregiver for Individuals with Special Needs

$18 - $25 an hour - Contract, Part-Time

Position Summary

Autumn’s Gift Respite Care is seeking a dedicated Independent Contractor – Special Needs Lead Caregiver to join our Atlanta team. In this hands-on leadership role, you will support participants and care staff, provide direct care, and lead daily activities in a vibrant, outdoor-focused environment. You will model a calm, problem-solving approach, creating safe, meaningful, and joyful experiences for individuals with diverse abilities.

What We’re Looking For

We seek independent contractors who are:

- Experienced in caregiving and team leadership

- Passionate about supportive, relationship-based care

- Strong communicators who build positive, respectful relationships

- Confident facilitating sessions or meetings with families

- Dependable, adaptable, and professional; last-minute cancellations or no-shows are not acceptable

- Hands-on and actively involved in guiding and supporting others

- Enthusiastic about outdoor and physical activities

- Interested in a meaningful, long-term relationship with our program

- Committed to fostering a fun, values-driven team culture

- Attentive to client safety, dignity, and well-being

- Respectful of privacy, confidentiality, and individual rights

- Diligent in completing timely, accurate documentation

- Proud to represent Autumn’s Gift professionally, including following uniform guidelines


Qualifications


- Experience working with individuals with autism, Down syndrome, Asperger’s, ADHD, or similar needs, or enrollment in a related degree program (e.g., psychology, ABA, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, nursing, education)

- Experience facilitating sessions or meetings

- Successful completion of a criminal background check (out-of-pocket expense may apply)

- Physical ability to meet the role’s demands

- Strong, verifiable professional references

- Completion of all required training

- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)

- Current CPR and First Aid certification

- Availability to work atleast two Saturdays each month (weekday shifts may be offered as needed)
